Sony expects to present its high-end Blu-ray player ‘BDP-S1E’ at the upcoming IFA 2007. An important feature of the player a video upscaling function; it not only plays films from Blu-ray discs in full HD quality(1920 x 1080), it also enhances films on conventional DVDs, producing an HD resolution(up to 1080p). The pinnacle of home cinema viewing is 24p True Cinema Mode, which plays films at movie theatre speed(24fps), providing that the TV set supports this type of signal. Using up to eight channels, the BDP-S1E also impresses with great sound, which is transmitted uncompressed to the sound system via the player’s HDMI interface. In addition to the 7.1 Linear PCM format this player also supports the new high-definition audio formats 5.1 Dolby True HD and Dolby Digital plus.
